Aspen Beverage Donates Goods to SAFB
(San Antonio, TX) December 30, 2010—Aspen Beverage Group, a San Antonio based roaster and innovative beverage manufacturer, has donated its surplus liquid Aspen Peach Tea to the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB). The tea is certified Kosher.
The San Antonio Food bank is a local receiving warehouse for over 500 service organizations that serve 16 counties in the surrounding area. The donations from businesses to the SAFB help the service organizations save more than $70 million dollars in food purchase costs a year, which is equal to 4.6 million meals per month to needy families.
The SAFB is one of the largest food banks in Texas and the 14th largest in the nation. SAFB claims that nearly one out of every three children and one out of every five adults in Southwest Texas live in poverty and have difficulty meeting basic nutritional needs. Sixty-five percent of the people requesting emergency food have children. Senior citizens and those living on a fixed income often have limited funds for a consistent grocery budget. Meanwhile, enormous quantities of surplus food are available from the food industry, food manufacturers, and farmers.
By Aspen and other companies donating surplus goods many needy families in the San Antonio area can be helped.
